When you bring
the band across the pond stop in Milwaukee, there is a great
local music scene and we would love to see you. Of course we'll
make the trip to Chicago if necessary, Rock On !!

Tracie Hunter is the child
of Rock n' Roll and 21st Century
Country & Western, she
reinterprets women’s anxiety and heartache with the same ease as she sings
LOUD SHOCK ROCK! YELLOWBELLY, KING OF RAIN & NOW I’M GONE are haunting
love songs of loss and disappointment. They are so good they make you
hurt. King of the rain or prince of tears! A lament “Down on my knees,
he’s the king of the rain…” A strong religious undercurrent sets up
Tracie’s deft song writing. Ballads are big and bold songs like SEE YOU
AGAIN & BROKEN I love this song: now and then I just don’t know myself.
I’m broken at the seams, now and then I lose myself, now and then I just
don’t know myself…the lady is talented and wonderful to watch.

Hello chaps
It's a
beautiful sunny day in London, the sweet, familiar sound of pneumatic
drills & Police sirens fills any gaps there may be in the silence & it
feels like home! I spent last week in Spain, we stayed high up in the
mountains one night & as dusk fell the utter silence was almost
un-nerving, it was beautiful but it took a while to adjust ... very
serene. The ocean felt great, typically British.... i was the only person
in the sea, just me & a big Portuguese Man- of- War, those things still
sting when they're dead....... nasty.
So, let's get
the bad out of the way....let's talk about The Water Rats in Kings Cross,
my gut feeling when offered this show was 'Don't do it', every fibre of my
being was saying 'Don't do it', even the band were saying 'Don't do it' so
i did it. And the reason why my guts were telling me not to do it is that
the people that run that organisation care nothing about music or
musicians, they reneged on everything that had been contracted & i will
never go there or play there again. This place is sometimes putting 8
bands a night on, charging £8 to get in & paying none of the musicians a
penny. It used to be hip to play the Water Rats, i have seen some amazing
bands there but it aint hip anymore, these people are not hip. I don't
want to beg the sound man to put his Chicken Zinger down & actually use
his greasy Ketchup stained fingers on the desk he is dining off of to get
a sound...... Anyway, i don't want to use this space to slag anyone off
but i was particularly disturbed by that night, i love what i do & that
night.. i didn't. Rant over.
The Scala
show was great, Angie Bowie is such a dynamic, charismatic woman, dripping
with style ...... the Glitter band were fabulous, i had no idea what to
expect of the evening but it was quite a Jaw dropper.... then the Ant that
is Adam turns up & plays a full set, looking & sounding to me remarkably
like a man who got his Mojo back, what a show. All run beautifully by Mick
Monsta from the comfort of the Ladies toilet. We hadn't played for a while
& it was full tilt, Paul Cuddeford stepped in on guitar (Stef was away in
Italy) & did a mighty job. Anyone that was there that night witnessed a
pretty special night, they really are one offs.
I was due to
fly out to NYC the following week for some shows & then onto Nashville for
business, sadly the Volcano prevented that trip from happening & whilst
there was nothing that could be done to change a thing, i sorely missed
doing the NYC shows, hoping to cross the atlantic in the next few months &
catch up what i missed. Angie was also prevented from going home so we
hung out, Maggi Ronson, Patti Palladin & me, we had out tarot cards read,
ate dinner at Home House, drank at the Groucho.....these are amazing,
strong, powerful, creative women & such great company, i loved that week.
That leads me
to the last few weeks which have been such fun, dad was here gigging so i
caught the Leicester show which was very hot in every way, spent the
following night in Sheffield at the Dave Kilmer tribute, Joe Elliot's
Down'n' Outz played a great set, got up & did some BV's for them think
they're releasing England Rocks anytime now, it sounds amazing!! Backstage
was fun that night.... the Kiss chaps were there & very nice they were
too, as long as you keep out of tonguing distance from Gene!! Thus got
invited to the Kiss show at the Arena the following night, what a glorious
spectacle that was! ;) Nuff said.
Dad's show at
the Barbican was magical, he has such a great band & all so passionate &
in love with their art, Pheobe & i got up & 'Sha la la la pushed pushed",
loved every second. Jools was fun also, enjoyed Courtney's performance
very much. Desperately
wanted to nick her Gold shoes.......
And for us,
were rehearsing & getting ready to head North in a week or so for the
Leeds show on 3rd June & Ronno shows in Hull on 4th & 5th. My brother Jess
is flying in this week to start rehearsals with his lot The Audio Cartel.
Hope to see some of you up North, we haven't played up there for a while,
we promise to rock the house down!!
